In addition to our genes, environmental factors and our lifestyle influence how the body develops and changes with age. Most people thereby wish to slow down their biological aging process, summarized anti-aging. Since we cannot stop aging, it is important that we age healthily and are spared from diseases of old age. These include, for example, cardiovascular diseases, Alzheimer’s disease or cancer. For a healthy and slow aging process, vitamins, minerals and plant substances are therefore important components of the diet. In this way, your body can maintain elementary protective functions and metabolic processes can be permanently strengthened. In this article we want to give an overview of which micronutrients are essential for anti-aging.
Vitamin C
Let’s start with something that every child knows: vitamin C. Quite rightly, it is counted among the anti-aging vitamins, because it supports the skin in essential functions against aging. It contributes to a healthy and beautiful skin in several different ways. On the one hand, vitamin C protects against oxidative damage by fighting free radicals and thus counteracts premature aging of the skin. In addition, vitamin C is significantly involved in the formation of collagen. This gives the skin the structure and firmness, which is why it counteracts visible aging processes. Lastly, vitamin C helps with pigmentation spots due to its skin lightening properties. When choosing a vitamin C supplement, be sure to take a product that is subject to the pure substance principle. Only in this way can you be sure that only active ingredients and no excipients, colorants, preservatives, and technological additives such as binders or release agents are contained.
If you are interested in combining the anti-aging properties of glucosamine sulfate, chondroitin sulfate in addition to vitamin C, we recommend so-called combination preparations. Glucosamine and chondroitin are natural building blocks of all cartilage, tendons, ligaments and bone structures in the body and protect your body from physical wear and tear.
Omega-3 fatty acids
Omega-3 fatty acids are particularly important due to their anti-inflammatory effect. This is important in old age, because many diseases of old age are based on long-standing inflammatory processes. Therefore, with the regular increase of omega-3 fatty acids, phenomena such as vascular, cardiac, nervous, metabolic and eye diseases can be prevented.
We advise supplementing a diet rich in omega-3 fatty acids, especially in the form of walnuts or fish, with suitable supplements. Capsules with highly concentrated quality fish oil provide the valuable omega-3 fatty acids EPA (eicosapentaenoic acid) and DHA (docosahexaenoic acid).
Coenzyme Q10
Coenzyme Q10 is a vitamin-like substance that is produced by the body itself, but can also be supplied through the diet. Coenzyme Q10 is important for energy production, so that especially the heart and muscles can work properly. However, its endogenous production decreases after the age of 40. Especially with increasing age, products with the supplementation of the active coenzyme Q10 form “ubiquinol” are recommended, since the conversion rate presumably decreases with age.
